A collection of readings from Catholic authors, apparently gathered for the use of a particular person, possibly a lady of the Digby family of Buckinghamshire. Includes stories of saints and devout women; extracts from Caesarius' Dialogue (on Miracles), Blosius, and Cassian's Collationes patrum; and several short works such as Derections for the right use of Ideots devotions, or the desiers of love (p. 176), Some few advices to the reader that is but yet a beginner about the use of the ensuing exercises of desiers of love (p. 181), An exercise of thanksgiving for received benefits, A similitude of a pilgrim going to Jerusalem (p. 274), and An exercise of true and perfect resignation of ourselves into the hands of God (p. 339).
